Plant Room Electrical Panel
Diagnostics of burner and chiller control systems.
Plant room electrical panels form the central control hub for heating and cooling systems in large buildings, hospitals, hotels, and industrial complexes. These panels typically integrate burner control circuits for gas or oil-fired systems (including flame safety, gas pressure, and flue temperature monitoring), chiller controllers (absorption or compression type), circulation pumps, cooling tower fans, and Building Management System (BMS) interfaces. Common failures include burnt power relays, defective electronic burner controllers (such as Siemens LFL or Riello units), faulty pressure and temperature sensors, communication errors on Profibus or Modbus networks, and interlock safety circuit faults. Expert repair involves precise measurement of analog and digital signals using multimeters and oscilloscopes, verification of burner start-up sequences according to EN 298 standards, calibration of pressure and temperature transmitters, replacement of power components such as contactors and pump drive inverters, and reprogramming of Siemens S7 or Allen-Bradley PLCs. The ultimate goal is to restore system stability and prevent unexpected plant room shutdowns that can result in significant operational losses.
